Record

Record any talk. Read it in your language.

Record a lesson, a talk, a conversation at a fair or a meeting. Sponkly writes down what is said and translates it as it is said, then gives you a clean transcript, a summary and the audio to keep.

How it works

  1. 1

    Choose the languages

Pick the language being spoken, or Detect automatically when people switch languages or take questions, and the language you want to read.

  2. 2

    Press Record

Words appear as they are said, each line with its translation under it. Pause and resume whenever you like.

  3. 3

Finish and get the clean version

Sponkly goes through the whole recording again: a clean transcript that shows who spoke, misheard words corrected from context, and a summary with key points.

  4. 4

    Listen, search, share

Play it back, tap a line to hear that moment again, search the text, and share it as a file or a link.

Live transcript and translation

You do not have to wait for the end. Each sentence shows up while the speaker is still talking, in the original and in your language, so you can follow a lecture or a meeting in real time.

  • The original and the translation, line by line
  • Detect automatically for mixed languages and questions from the room
  • Optional: hear the translation read aloud (best with earphones)
  • A hint when the sound is too quiet: move closer to the speaker

After you finish: a transcript you can trust

Live text is fast; the final version is careful. When you press Finish, Sponkly listens to the whole recording again and prepares a clean transcript and a summary.

  • Each speaker marked, so you know who said what
  • Words misheard on the way corrected from context, with what was first heard kept
  • Summary and key points in your language and in the spoken one
  • Tap any line and the audio jumps to that moment

Made for long, real-world recordings

Keeps recording with the screen locked

On your phone, put it in your pocket or on the table: the recording goes on.

Reconnects by itself

If the connection drops for a moment, recording goes on and the audio is sent when it is back.

On your phone and the web

In the iPhone and Android app, and at sponkly.com in your browser. Your recordings are on both.

Saved when time is up

When your plan's limit is reached, Sponkly finishes and saves the recording for you, with a warning 30 seconds before.

Plans and limits

Record has its own minutes, separate from translation minutes, and only recorded time counts. Free lets you try it with short recordings; paid plans record for much longer. Summaries are on every plan.

Your recordings stay yours

The audio, the transcript and the summary are kept in your account until you delete them. Deleting a recording removes the audio, the text and its share link, and a link works only while you share it. Speech is processed on Sponkly's servers to write it down and translate it.

Ask before you record

Make sure the people present agree to being recorded. In many places recording others without their consent is not allowed.

Questions about Record

Which languages can I record?

Speech in more than 40 languages, translated into any of the 32 languages of Sponkly. Choose the spoken language, or Detect automatically when the speakers change language.

What does Detect automatically do?

It recognises the language of each line by itself. Use it for talks in more than one language, interviews or questions from the audience; each line is translated into the language you chose.

How long can a recording be?

It depends on your plan: from 3 minutes per recording on Free up to 3 hours on the paid plans, with a monthly allowance of Record minutes. See the table on this page.

Does Record use my translation minutes?

No. Record has its own monthly minutes, and only the time you actually record counts; paused time does not.

Does it work without internet?

Record needs a connection to write and translate as you speak. If the connection drops for a moment, the recording goes on and catches up when it is back.

Does it know who is speaking?

Yes, after you finish: the clean transcript marks each speaker and corrects words that were misheard during the live text.

Who can see my recording?

Only you, unless you share it. A share link lets anyone with it read the transcript and play the audio without signing in, and you can stop sharing at any time.

How long are recordings kept?

Until you delete them. Deleting a recording removes the audio, the transcript, the summary and the share link.

Am I allowed to record?

Ask the people present first. Recording others without their consent is not allowed in many places, and lecturers or venues may have their own rules.

Can I use it on my computer?

Yes. Record works in the iPhone and Android app and in your browser at sponkly.com, signed in to the same account.
